Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

hello users ......

we have given that

surface area of cylinder =352 cm²

height of the cylinder = 10 cm

we have to find

diameter of the base of cylinder =?

solution:-

we know that

surface area of cylinder = 2πrh + 2πr²

here

surface area of cylinder = 352 cm²

 => 2πrh + 2πr² = 352 cm²

=>  2 ×22/7× r ×10 + 2 ×22/7 ×r² =352 cm²

=>  440/7×r + 44 /7 ×r² = 352 cm²

=>  10/7 ×r  + 1/7× r² = 8

=>  10 r + r² = 56

+=> r² +10 r - 56 = 0

now

 by solving equation ,we get

  = r² +14 r - 4 r - 56 = 0

=> r (r + 14) -4 (r+ 14)

=> r - 4 = 0  ;  r +14 = 0

=> r = 4, -14

now we have to find diameter that cannot be negative

=> r =4

now at last

 the diameter of the base of cylinder = 2 r = 2× 4 = 8 cm answer
