The difference between simple interest on a sum of money for 5 years and for 3 years at 5% per annum is ₹600. Find the sum.

let the principle be P ,

Now ,

interest for 5 year ( a )= ( P * 5 * 5 ) / 100

                             = (25/100)  * P

                             = p / 4

Again ,

interest for 3 year ( b ) =  ( P * 3 * 5 ) / 100

                             = ( 15 / 100 ) * P

                             = 3P / 20

Here , According To the question ,

a - b = 600

or, P/4 - 3P/20  = 600

or,( 5P - 3P ) = 12000

or,P = 12000/2

Therefore , P = Rs 6000
