We know that Two angles are complementary if the sum of their degree measures equals 90 degrees. x + y = 90 ----- (1). Given that Difference of two complementary angles is 40. x = 65.

Step-by-step explanation:

x+y =90° ..1

complementary angles add upto 90

given: x-y=40...2

add equation 1 and 2

x+y+x-y =90+40

2x=130 (-y and y get cancelled)

x=

x =  \frac{130}{2}

x=65

x+y =90

65+y=90

y=90-65

y=25

the angles are..65 and 25

check:65+25=90°

65-25=40

check is not needed I did just for ur understanding....

hope it's helpful...
