GIVEN :-

  • Two points (-4,7) and (1,-5)

TO FIND :-

  • The distance between them.

SOLUTION :-

As we know, that the distance formula is given by,

Distance between them,

➟ D = √{ (x2 - x1)² + (y2 - y1)²}

  • x2 = 1
  • x1 = -4
  • y2 = -5
  • y1 = 7

➟ D = √[ {1 - (-4)}² + { -5 - 7}² ]

➟ D = √{ (1 + 4)² + (-12)² }

➟ D = √{ (5)² + 144 }

➟ D = √(25 + 144)

➟ D = √169

D = 13

Hence trains between the points (-4,7) and (1,-5) is 13 units.

 {\huge {\tt {\underline {\underline{solution}}}}}

 \tt{As  \: we  \: know,  \: that \:  the \:  distance  \: } \\  \tt{formula \:  is  \: given \:  by,}

 \tt{d =  \sqrt{(x2 - x1)^{2} } } +  \sqrt{ (y2 - y1) ^{2}  }

 \tt{x2 = 1}

 \tt{x1 =  - 4}

 \tt{y2 =  - 5}

 \tt{y1 = 7}

 \tt \: d = { \sqrt{1 - ( - 4) ^{2} }}  +  (- 5 - 7 )^{2}

 \tt{d =  \sqrt{(1 + 4) ^{2} } } + ( - 12) ^{2}

 \tt{d =    \sqrt{ {(5)}^{2} + 144 } } \\

 \tt{d =  \sqrt{169}}

 \tt{d = 13}
