i am denoting father as F , son as S
F-S = 24 --------- (1) equation
5 years ago
Father's age =(F-5)
Son's age = (S-5)
1/3 × (F-5) = (S-5)
F-5 = 3S - 15------- equation (2)
now from equation (1) F=24+S
put this value in equation (2)
24+S -5 = 3S-15
2S = 34 or S = 17
put value of S in equation (1)
F= 24+S = 24+17 = 41
Father's age = 41
son's age = 17
