∴ Age of his father = (x + 26) years

According to the sum,

x + x + 26 = 56

⇒ 2x + 26 = 56 ⇒ 2x = 56 – 26 = 30

⇒ x = 30/2 = 15

∴ Age of Gopal = 15 years

and age of his father = 15 + 26 = 42 years
