Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of the elder brother be y and that of the younger one be x

According to the question

y-x = 10....eq(1)

15 years ago,

their ages were y-15 and x-15

According to the question

y-15=2(x-15) (ratio 2:1)

y-15=2x-30

y-2x-15= -30

y-2x= -30+15

y-2x = -15

From eq 1

y=10+x

Substituting the value of y

10+x -2x = -15

10-x= -15

-x= -15-10

-x= -25

x= 25

Present Age of the younger brother is 25

From eq 1 present age of the elder brother is 35

15 yrs hence

the age of elder brother is 50

and the younger brother is 40

Ratio is 5:4
