Question

The difference between the measure of two complementary angle is 16 in the measure of two angles.

Solution

Difference between the measures of two angles = 16°

➝ Let one angle be x.

➝ Second angle will be x+16

A.T.Q

➝ x + (x+16) = 90° (sum of complementary angles = 90°)

➝ 2x + 16 = 90

➝ 2x = 90-16

➝ 2x = 74

➝ x = 74/2

➝ x = 37

Therefore the angles are :

x = 37°

x + 16 = 37 + 16 = 53

Checking

The angles are complementary - 53+37 = 90.

difference between the angles = 16

53-37 = 16°
