the difference between the present ages of a person and his son is 28 years. ten years hence, their ages will be in the ratio 3 : 1. the sum of their present ages is ______ years.

Person is 32 and son is 4

p - s = 28 ( p is person's and s is son's age respectively )

----(1)

(p+10)/(s+10)=3

p -3s=20 ----(2)

Subtracting , (1) - (2)

2s=8

s=4

p=32
