Heya !!!
Let the number be X and (X+1)
Therefore,
(X+1)² - (X)² = 31
X² + 1 + 2 × X × 1 - X² = 31
1 + 2X = 31
2X = 31-1
2X = 30
X = 30/2
X= 15
First Number = X = 15
And,
Second number = (X+1) = 15 + 1 = 16
HENCE,
THE NUMBERS ARE 15 AND 16.

Let consecutive numbers are,
x and (x + 1)
--------------------------
According to the question,
(x + 1 )² - x² = 31
x² + 1 + 2x - x² = 31
x²+ 2x - x² =31 - 1
2x = 30
x = 30/2
x = 15
-------------------
numbers
x = 15
x + 1 = 15 + 1 = 16
numbers = 15 and 16
