Let the first number is any variable, taking x
So other number will be ( x + 1 ) ,
Given that the difference of the squares of ( x + 1 ) and x is 31
= > ( x )^2 - ( x + 1 )^2 = 31
= > x^2 - x^2 + 1 + 2x = 31
= > 1 + 2x = 31
= > 2x = 31 - 1
= > x = 30 / 2
= > x = 15
Hence, required consecutive numbers are :-
First number = x = 15
Second number = ( x + 1 ) = ( 15 + 1 ) = 16
So other number will be ( x + 1 ) ,
Given that the difference of the squares of ( x + 1 ) and x is 31
= > ( x )^2 - ( x + 1 )^2 = 31
= > x^2 - x^2 + 1 + 2x = 31
= > 1 + 2x = 31
= > 2x = 31 - 1
= > x = 30 / 2
= > x = 15
Hence, required consecutive numbers are :-
First number = x = 15
Second number = ( x + 1 ) = ( 15 + 1 ) = 16
