Answer:

elder cousin = x = 35 years

younger cousin = y = 25 years

Step-by-step explanation:

let the age of elder cousin be x

let the age of younger cousin be y

difference between there ages is 10

x - y = 10 equ (1)

age of x 15 years ago x - 15

age of y 15 years ago y - 15

x was twice the age of y 15 years ago

x - 15 = 2(y - 15)

x - 15 = 2y - 30

x - 2y = - 30 + 15

x - 2y = -15 equ (2)

subtracting equ (1) and (2)

we get

y = 25

substitute y = 25 in equ (1)

x - y = 10

x - 25 = 10

x = 10 + 25

x = 35

elder cousin = x = 35 years

younger cousin = y = 25 years

hope you get your answer
