so 7x-3x=48
4x=48
x=48÷4
x=12
so 7x= 7×12
84
and 3x = 3×12
36

Let the numbers be 7x and 3x, ATQ, 7x - 3x = 48........... 4x = 48............... x = 12.................. Now put the values of x , 7x = 84 ........... 3x = 36................. ∴ The two no. are 84 and 36.
