To Find:-

  • Find the integers.

Given:-

  • Difference between two integer is two the larger integer is 6 less than twice the smaller.

Solution:-

Let the smaller number be ' x '

And the larger number be 2x - 6

Then,

The equation is

2x - 6 - x = 2

x = 6 + 2

\boxed{\bf{\color{yellw}{ \: x \:  =  \: 8 \: }}}

So,

The larger number is

2x - 6

2( 8 ) - 6

16 - 6

10

\boxed{\bf{\color{yellw}{ \: ∴ \:  The \:  larger \:  number \:  is \:  10 \:  and \:  smaller \:  number \:  is \:  8. \: }}}

Verification:-

Given,

2x - 6 is the largest number.

2x - 6 = 10

2( 8 ) - 6 = 10

16 - 6 = 10

10 = 10

Answer :-

Let the number be x and y and let x be greater integer and y be smaller integer.

According to the question :-

Difference between x and y is 2

So, x - y = 2

x = y + 2 - i

Larger integer is 6 less than twice the smaller :-

x = 2y - 6 - ii

Equating the equation i and ii -

→ y + 2 = 2y - 6

→ 2y - y = 6 + 2

→ y = 8

→ x = y + 2

→ x = 8 + 2

→ x = 10

Numbers = 8,10
