the difference between two number is 15 .taking the smaller number as X.
(a) find the expression for large number
(b) the large number, if the sum of these numbers is 71

let the larger number be Y
so, X - Y = 15
OR
Y - X = 15
now solve the equation you will get the answer of first part.
(b) X + Y =71
so,Y = 71 - X
