Let two numbers be x & y

x−y=26 ____ (1)

x=3y ____ (2)

substituting (2) in (1) we get

3y−y−26

2y=26

y=13

x=3y from (2)

x=3×13

x=39

we need to find sum of two numbers

x+y=39+13

=52

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let's take the first number as x

so, the other number = 3 times x that is equal to 3x

now we have to equate the values as in question  it is given that the difference is 26

so, value of x=

3x-x= 26

2x = 26

x=26/2

x=13

if x= 13 then 3x = 13*3=39

so the number vare 13 and 39
