Let numbers are x and (x - 8)
According to the question,
(x)² + (x - 8)² = 160
x² + x² + 64 - 16x = 160
2x² + 64 - 16x = 160
x² + 32 - 8x = 80
x² - 8x + 32 - 80 = 0
x² - 8x - 48 = 0
x² - 12x + 4x - 48 = 0
x(x - 12) + 4(x - 12) = 0
(x - 12)(x + 4) = 0
x = 12 or -4
Taking positive value, x = 12
Numbers are :
x = 12
x - 8 = 4
I hope this will help you
