Hi ,
Let one number = x
Second number = x - 12
According to the problem given ,
3x = 9 ( x - 12 )
3x = 9x - 108
3x - 9x = - 108
- 6x = - 108
x = ( - 108 ) / ( - 6 )
x = 18
Therefore ,
Required two numbers are
x = 18 ,
Second number = x - 12
= 18 - 12
= 6
I hope this helps you.

i think solution would be like this-
let the no. be x
1) no. 3x
2)no. 9x
according to the question
9x-3x=12
3x=12
x=12÷3=4
