let the smaller no. be x.
Sum of two numbers=86
bigger no.=86-x
difference of two numbers =18
(86-x)-x=18
86-x-x=18
86-2x=18
86-18=2x
2x=68
x=68/2
x=34
The
smaller number is 34
bigger no.=86-x=86-34=52
Sum of two numbers=86
bigger no.=86-x
difference of two numbers =18
(86-x)-x=18
86-x-x=18
86-2x=18
86-18=2x
2x=68
x=68/2
x=34
The
smaller number is 34
bigger no.=86-x=86-34=52

Hi friend,
Here is your answer,
_____________________________________________________________
Let the numbers be x and y.
x-y = 18 ------------------------------(i)
x+y = 86 ------------------------------(ii)
Add (i) & (ii)
2x = 104
x = 52
52 - y = 18
52 - 18 = y
34 = y
Required numbers are 52 and 34.
