Answer :-

  • First number - 39
  • Second number - 13

Given :-

  • Difference between two  numbers = 26
  • Second Number is 3 times of First Number

To Find :-

  • Both Numbers = ?

Explanation :-

Let the First Number to be 'x' and then Second Number is '3x'

Now, According to the question

\rm \implies 3x - x = 26 \\ \\ \rm \implies 2x = 26 \\ \\ \rm \implies x = \dfrac{26}{2} \\ \\  \underline { \boxed { \rm \bold { \implies x = 13 }}}

Now, Substituting the value

\rm \implies First \; Number = x = \bold {13} \\ \\ \rm \implies Second \; Number = 3x = 3(13) = \bold {39}

For Verification,

\rm \implies 3x - x = 26 \\ \\ \rm \implies 39 - 13 = 26 \\ \\ \rm \implies 26 = 26 \\ \\ \rm \bold { \implies L.H.S = R.H.S }

Hence, the Numbers are 39 and 13.

Answer:

x - y = 26 ----> 1 equation

x > y so x = 3 y

x - 3 y = 0 ----> 2 equation

----------------

x - 1 y = 26

x - 3 y = 0   (subtract)

----------------

2 y = 26

----------------

y = 26/2

y = 213

substitute y = 13 in any of the equations

x - 13 = 26

x = 26 + 13

x = 39
