Let the larger number p

Smaller one be p - 7

Hence,

6(p - 7) + p = 77  (According to question)

⇒ 6p - 42 + p = 77

⇒ 7p - 42 = 77

p = 17

Putting the value of p in given equation, we get

p - 7 = y

⇒ y = 17 - 7

⇒ y = 10

here is your answer OK ☺☺☺☺☺☺

in this question are two method to solve.......

 \huge \red {first \: method}

let be bigger x and smaller x-7
6(x-7)+x=77
6x-42+x=77
7x-42=77
7x=77+42=119
x=119/7
x=17
x-7=10
Now check that out

 \huge \green{second \: method}

let the first number= x
and 2nd = y

here According to question ,
x-y= 7
and
6y+x =77

now
solving two equations we get
7y =70
=> y = 10

take this in equation
x-y= 7
=> x-10= 7
=> x= 7+10= 17

so ,
larger number = 17
&
smaller number= 10
Answer

because
in x-y= 7 there x= 7+y and put this into 6y+x= 77
we get 7y+7= 77

=>7 y= 70
