Let numbers be x and y

We have, x - y = 72
     and, x = 10y

so, 10y - y = 72
          y = 8

so, x= 80

Hence, Nos. are 80 and 8

The difference between two numbers is 72 and their quotient is 10 then the numbers are 80 and 8

Solution:

Let the two numbers be x and y

Given that difference between two numbers is 72

So x + y = 72  ---- eqn 1

Given that the quotient is 10

\begin{array}{l}{\frac{x}{y}=10} \\\\ {x=10 y}\end{array}

Substituting the value of x in x - y = 72, we get

\begin{array}{l}{10 y-y=72} \\\\ {9 y=72} \\\\ {y=\frac{72}{9}=8}\end{array}

Thus

x - y = 72

x - 8 = 72

x = 72 + 8

x = 80

Thus the two numbers are 80 and 8
