The difference between two numbers is 8 if 2 be added to the greater the resilt will be three times the smaller find the numbers

Hi ,

Let the smaller number = x

bigger number = x + 8

according to the problem given ,

( x + 8 ) + 2 = 3x

x + 10 = 3x

10 = 3x - x

10 = 2x

10/2 = x

Therefore ,

x = 5

Required numbers are ,

smaller number = x = 5

bigger number = x + 8

= 5 + 8

= 13
