Answer:

take 2 numbers as x and y

x - y = 8

(x +2 )- y = 3y

x +2 = 3y + y

2x = 4y

4y - 2x = 0

then

by substituting method

we get

4x - 4y = 32

-2x + 4y = 0

by cancellation we get

2x = 32

x = 16

x - y = 8

so y is 8

I think this is the answer...

let the first number be x

let the 2nd number be x- 8

x+2=3(x-8)

x+2=3x-24

x-3x=-24-2

-2x=-26

x=-26/-2

= 13

1 number = x =13

2number = x-8 = 5
