4y - 2x = 0

then

by substituting method

we get

4x - 4y = 32

-2x + 4y = 0

by cancellation we get

x = 16

x - y = 8

so y is 8

x+2=3(x-8)

x+2=3x-24

x-3x=-24-2

-2x=-26

x=-26/-2

= 13
