Answer:

5 and 13 are the numbers

Given:

  • Difference between two numbers is 8
  • If 2 is added to the bigger number the result will be 3 times the smaller number.

To Find:

  • The numbers

Let the smaller number = x

The larger number = x + 8

According to the Question:

Bigger Number. + 2 = 3 × Smaller Number

⟹ (x + 8) + 2 = 3 × x

⟹ x + 10 = 3x

⟹ 10 = 3x - x

⟹ 10 = 2x

⟹ 10/2 = x

⟹ 5 = x

The smaller number = x = 5

The bigger number

⟹ (x + 8)

⟹ (5 + 8)

⟹ 13

Given:-

\bigstarThe difference between two numbers is8

To Find:-

\bigstarIf 2 is added to the bigger number the result will be three times the smaller number. Find the numbers

Solution:-

\bigstarLet the Larger Number be x and smaller Number be y Respectively

\bigstarAccording to Given Condition

 \sf \:  \longrightarrow \: x - y = 8 \longrightarrow(1) \\  \\  \sf \:  \longrightarrow \: x + 2 = 3y \\  \\  \sf \:  \longrightarrow \: x = 3y -2 \longrightarrow(2)

\bigstarSubstitute the value of x in Equation 1

 \sf\longrightarrow\: x - y = 8 \\  \\ </p><p></p><p> \sf  \longrightarrow\: 3y - 2- y = 8 \\  \\ </p><p></p><p> \sf\longrightarrow \: 2y = 8 + 2 \\  \\ </p><p></p><p> \sf \longrightarrow\: 2y = 10  \\  \\  \sf \longrightarrow \: y = 5 \\

\bigstarSubstitute the value of y in Equation 1

 \sf\longrightarrow \: x - y = 8 \\  \\ </p><p></p><p> \sf \longrightarrow\: x-5 = 8 \\  \\ </p><p></p><p> \sf \longrightarrow\: x = 13

{ \large{ \boxed{ \boxed{ \bold{x = 13}}}}}

{ \large{ \boxed{ \boxed{ \bold{y = 5}}}}}

\bigstarHence, the larger number is 13 and smaller number is 5
