3
x-y=8
(x+2)-y=3y => 4y= x+2 => x= 4y-2
Hence, 4y-2-y= 8 => 3y= 10 => y= 10/3
So. x=34/3

misssmart1: but the answer is x=5 &y=13
subu19: No... If x=5 & y=13, then 13-5=8 & (13+2)-5=10=2*5 not 3*5
misssmart1: but the key for the question is x=5 & y =13
subu19: So what.... According to the question iur answer is this.... So either question may be wrong or key may be wrong....
misssmart1: (13+2)-5=10 => 13+2=10+5 => 15=15
misssmart1: the condition is satisfied
