given that

The difference between the Number is 8

let one number be x

and another number be y

difference of digits = 8

so,

x - y = 8......(1)

also given that ,

if 2 is added to the bigger number the result

will be three times the smaller number.

let the bigger number x

so,

According to the question,

we have

x + 2 = 3y

x - 3y =  - 2.....(2)

now,

we have,

x - y = 8....(1)

x - 3y =  - 2.....(2)

subtracting (2) from (1)

x - y - (x - 3y) = 8 - ( - 2)

x - y -  x + 3y = 8 + 2

2y = 10

y =  \frac{10}{2}

y = 5

from (1)

x - y = 8

putting the value of y

x - 5 = 8

x = 8 + 5

x = 13

y = 5

from (1)

x - y = 8

putting the value of y

x - 5 = 8

x = 8 + 5

x = 13

y = 5

so,

larger number = 13

smaller number = 5
