x-y = 24 ........ (1)

-->Acc to ques,we have to take x as numerator as answer is greater than 1 and it is possible only if numerator is greater than denominator,

 x/y = 1.5

x=1.5y ........ (2)

--> put 2 in 1

1.5y - y = 24

0.5y=24

so, y = 48

--> Put y in(1),

x=24+y

 = 24+48

 = 72


hence the greater number is 72.
