Given : difference between two positive integers is 36

and

quotient when one integer is divided by other is 4

Solution:

Let first integer be x

and second integer be y

ATQ:

x - y = 36............................eq1 \\  \\

and

 \frac{x}{y}  = 4 \\  \\ x = 4y \\  \\

putting the value of x in eq 1

 x - y = 36 \\  \\ 4y - y = 36 \\  \\ 3y = 36 \\  \\ y =  \frac{36}{3}  \\  \\ y = 12 \\  \\

putting value of y in eq 1

x  - y = 36 \\  \\ x - 12  = 36 \\  \\ x = 36 + 12 \\  \\ x = 48 \\  \\

Hence two integers are:

x = 48

and

y = 12
