first=x

second =y

x-y=36…. x=36+y. (1)

x/y=4……. x=4y. (2)

from 1 and 2

36+y=4y

 \frac{36 + y}{y}  = 4 \\  \frac{36}{y}  +  \frac{y}{y}  = 4 \\  \frac{36}{y}  + 1 = 4 \\  \frac{36}{y}  = 3 \\ 3y = 36 \\ y =  \frac{36}{3}  \\  y = 12

put in 2

x=4×12

x=48
