Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

→ difference between two rational no. is 7/8.

→ if one no. is -1/3

→ let other number be x

→ -1/3 - x = 7/8

→ -x = 7/8+1/3

→  -x = 7*3/8*3 + 1*8/3*8

→  -x = 21/24+8/24

→ -x=29/24

→ x =  -29/24

Difference of two numbers = 7/8

Known number = -1/3

Let the unknown number be x

Difference of two numbers = 7/8

So, equation formed :

x - (  - \frac{1}{3} ) =  \frac{7}{8}

x +  \frac{1}{3} =  \frac{7}{8}

x =  \frac{7}{8} -  \frac{1}{3}

Since Least Common Multiple of 8,3 is 24

x =  \frac{7 \times 3}{8 \times 3}  -  \frac{1 \times 8}{3 \times 8}

x =  \frac{21}{24}  -  \frac{8}{24}

x =  \frac{13}{24}
