Given:

The difference between two selling prices of a jacket at profits 4 percent and 5 percent is Rs. 6

To find:

a) the cost price of the jacket

b) two selling prices of the jacket

Formula to be used:

\boxed{\bold{S.P. = C.P * [\frac{100\:+\:Gain}{100} ]}}

Solution:

(a) Finding the cost price of the jacket

Let Rs. "x" be the cost price of the jacket.

Profit earned on the first jacket = 4%

Profit earned on the second jacket = 5%

So, using the formula, we get

The selling price of the first jacket = x*[\frac{100+4}{100} ] = \frac{104x}{100} = 1.04x ..... (i)

The selling price of the second jacket = x*[\frac{100+5}{100} ] = \frac{105x}{100} = 1.05x ....(ii)

Therefore, according to the question we get

[S.P. of the second jacket] - [S.P. of the first jacket] = 6

we will substitute from (i) & (ii)

1.05x - 1.04x = 6

⇒ 0.01x = 6

⇒ x = \frac{6}{0.01}

⇒ x = Rs. 600

Thus, \boxed{The\: cost\: price\: of\: the\: jacket\: is\: Rs.\: 600}

(b) Finding the selling prices of the jacket

Now, we will substitute the value of x = Rs. 600 in eq. (i) & (ii), we get

The selling price of the first jacket =  1.04 × 600 = Rs. 624

The selling price of the second jacket = 1.05 × 600 = Rs. 630

Thus, \boxed{The \:two\:selling\:prices\:of\:the\:jacket\: is\:Rs.\:624\:and\:Rs.\:630.}
