Let,

The two numbers be x and y.

According to the question,

For ratio,

• 2x = 5y ––––– (1)

For difference,

• x – y = 66 ––––– (2)

Or,

• x = 66 + y ––––– (3)

Now, put the value of x in equation (1), we get

⟹ 2x = 5y

⟹ 2(66 + y) = 5y

Now, open the bracket.

⟹ 132 + 2y = 5y

⟹ 132 = 5y – 2y

⟹ 132 = 3y

⟹ $\dfrac{\cancel{132}}{\cancel3}$ = y

⟹ 44 = y

Now, put the value of y in equation (3), we get

⟹ x = 66 + y

• y = 44

⟹ x = 66 + 44

⟹ x = 110

Hence,

The value of both the two numbers are 110 and 44.

Check :–

The values of x and y are :-

• x = 110
• y = 44

Put the both values in equation (2), we get

⟹ x – y = 66
