The difference in talking to the audience and reading to the audience:

In talking it's a great difficulty to find new innovative words to trap the interest of audience and while we are reading , you just need look at a sheet of paper and read out loud what is written on that particular sheet of paper .

While talking you make eye contact with the audience whereas while reading it is impossible , for you need to look at the paper to speak sometimes .

It may be possible that you are not looking at the audience and maybe the audience starts getting bored while in talking to the audience you ask questions to the audience , make them laugh and even notice if they are interested in the way you are speaking or not . So , there is a vast difference between talking and reading before the audience

Being able to read your audience can mean the difference between a speech which falls flat, and one that inspires and informs meaningfully. Look at their facial expressions and how they are holding themselves. ... Being able to to assess your audience is an essential skill to be successful as a speaker.
