Answer:

Question 493034: Find measures of two complementary angles if the difference of the measures of the two angles is 14. x = 39 degrees ; this is one angle. 39 + 12 = 51 degrees, this is the second angle. 39 degrees + 51 degrees = 90 degrees.

Given :

  • The difference in the measure of two complementary angles is 14.

To Find :

  • The measure of the angles.

As we know :

  • Two angles are said to be complementary if the sum of their measures is 90°.

Solution :

Let :-

  • the first angle be x.
  • and the second angle be 90 - x.

Now,

⇝ x - (90 - x) = 14

⇝ x - 90 + x = 14

⇝ 2x - 90 = 14

⇝ 2x = 14 + 90

⇝ 2x = 104

⇝ x = 104/2

⇝ x = 52

Hence :

  • Measure of the first angle = 52°
  • Measure of the second angle = (90° - 52°) = 38°
