Given:

✰ The difference of a number and 6 is the same as 5 times the sum of the number and 2.

To find:

✠ The number.

Solution:

Let's understand the concept first! First we will assume the number as x, then we know that the difference of a number and 6 which means 6 substracted from the number i.e, x - 6 is equal to the 5 times the sum of the number and 2 that means we will add 2 to the number ( x + 2 ) and then 5 times the given term i.e, 5 multiplied by the given term 5( x + 2 ) . So, they both are equal. Thus, forming an requisite equation and doing the required calculations, we will find out the value of x i.e, the required number.

Let's find out...!

According to question,

➤ x - 6 = 5( x + 2)

➤ x - 6 = 5x + 10

➤ 5x - x = - 6 - 10

➤ 4x = - 16

➤ x = -16/4

➤ x = - 4

The required number = - 4
