The difference of the numerator to the denominator of rational number is 1. If 8 is subtracted from the numerator and 1 is added to the denominator the new rational number becomes zero. find the rational number.

Harshi666: and r u happy with your position now??
Harshi666: I mean to ask... r u benefitted by ur parents guidance??
Anonymous: Iam the younger one. .i have a brother elder to me. .he is married. .I cannot say that am not satisfied. .am satisfied but not completly satisfied. it would have been a different story if i choosed my favourite subject.
Harshi666: oh...
Harshi666: u never said that u want to choose biology to ur parents??
Harshi666: or to anyone?
Anonymous: Yes. .i didn't say. .that was my fault because i was not aware that : it is a turning point and we need to stay with the subject what we choose now. .
Harshi666: oh
Harshi666: thanks alot... I will surely convey my decision to them.. actually even I thought to go to stream which is suggested by them
Anonymous: Yes! you need share your interests with your parents and discuss with them and finally make a good decision.

Let the Original Rational number be : p/q

where p is the numerator and q is the denominator

Given that the difference of the numerator to the denominator of this original rational number is 1

⇒ p - q = 1

It is also given that if 8 is subtracted from the numerator and 1 is added to the denominator the new rational number becomes zero

⇒ (p - 8)/(q + 1) = 0

The above fraction can become zero only when p - 8 = 0

⇒ p = 8

As p - q = 1

⇒ 8 - q = 1

⇒ q = 7

So the Original Rational number is 8/7
