Let the required numbers be x and y such that x > y .

Now ,

According to the question , the difference of the required numbers is 10 .

Thus ,

=> x - y = 10

=> x = 10 + y -----(1)

Also ,

One of the number is three times the other .

Thus ,

x = 3y ------(2)

From eq-(1) and (2) , we get ;

=> 10 + y = 3y

=> 10 = 3y - y

=> 10 = 2y

=> y = 10/2

=> y = 5

Now ,

Putting y = 5 in eq-(2) , we get ;

=> x = 3y

=> x = 3•5

=> x = 15

Hence ,

Required numbers are 15 and 5 .
