Each statement in the problem definition is an equation:

Equation 1: x + y = 125

Equation 2: x - y = 25

You can solve by elimination or substitution. I like elimination. Just put the equations on top of each other and add them (this one is clean because y gets cleared without having to multiple by a negative etc.)

FYI, substitution is when you reduce one of the equations down (in this case, taking the first equation and getting “x=125-y” and then plugging that in the second equation [(125-y)] - y = 25.. -2y = -150, y = 75) … but I’ll do an explanation of elimination because, as I said, I like it!

x + y = 125

x - y = 25

——————+

2x = 150

x = 75 *** First answer: you need to plug this value into either equation to get y.

75 + y = 125.

-75……. = -75

y = 50

Thus X = 75, Y = 50

hope it's help u ‼️✌️✌️

X * Y = 125

X - Y = 25

(X - Y) whole sq = X sq + Y sq - 2XY

= X sq + Y sq - 2(125)

625 = X sq + Y sq - 250

X sq + Y sq = 625 - 250

X sq + Y sq = 375

X sq + Y sq = 375
