According to question,



X - Y = 4 -------------(1)

And,



X = 3Y + 2 -----------(2)



From equation (1) , we get



X - Y = 4

X = ( 4 + Y ) ------------(3)


putting the value of X in equation (2) , we get




X = 3Y + 2



4 + Y = 3Y + 2



3Y - Y = 4 - 2




2Y = 2


Y = 1.


Putting the value of Y in equation (3) , we get




X = 4 + Y = 4 + 1


X = 5.



Hence,


Larger number = X = 5

And,

Smaller number = Y = 1
