Let consider the numbers are X & Y

According the question:the difference of two numbers is 4.

∴ X -Y = 4

X = (4 +Y)                 (1)

Also it is said , three times the smaller number is 4 more than twice the larger number.

∴ 3Y = 2X + 4

 3Y = 2 ( 4 +Y) +4

3Y = 8 + 2Y + 4

3Y - 2Y = 12

Y =12

Now we have to put the value of Y in equation ( 1):-

X = (4 +Y)

X = 4 + 12

X= 16

Hence the numbers are 12 & 16.

* ( 16 - 12 = 4)

Ans :- The numbers are 12 & 16.

The numbers are 12 and 16.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the numbers as x and y.

Given - The difference between two numbers is 4.
x - y = 4\\x = (4 + y)     ...... (1)

Also given that, three times the smaller number is 4 more than twice the larger number.

3y = 2x + 4\\3y = 2(4 + y) +4\\3y = 8+ 2y + 4\\3y - 2y = 12\\y = 12

Put the value  y ( y=12)  in equation (1):

x = (4 + y)\\x = 4 + 12\\x = 16

To check: (16 - 12 = 4)\\

Hence, the numbers are 12 and 16.
