Let the 1st no be x

then 2nd no be 3x + 1

=> 2x = 5 - 1

=> 2x = 4

=> x = 4/2 = 2

Hence ,

1st no. = x = 2

2nd no = 3x + 1 = 3×2 +1 = 7
