Solution

Let the first number be 'x'

and the second number be 'y'

According to question,

x - y = 5 _____(i)

x + y = 43 _____(i)

Solving from the elimination method and subtracting eqn.(ii) from eqn.(i), we get :-

x - y = 5

x + y = 43

-2y = -38

y = -38/-2

y = 19

Now, Putting the value of y in eqn.(i) :-

=> x - 19 = 5

=> x = 5 + 19

=> x = 24

Hence, The two numbers are 19 and 24 respectively.

and
