The different between two numbers is 200 and three time the smaller is equal to twice the greater, find the number

Given :-

• the different b/w two numbers = 200
• three time the smaller is equal is equal to twice the greater .

Solution :-

Let greater number = x

and smaller number = y

according to question

x - y = 200 ...............(1)

3y = 2x ......................(2)

from eq. (1)

x = 200 + y

put the value of x = 200 + y in eq. (2) we get --

3y = 2(200 + y)

3y = 400 + 2y

3y - 2y = 400

y = 400

now, out the value of y = 400 in eq. (1) we get --

x - 400 = 200

x = 200 + 400

x = 600

therefore the greater number is 600 and smaller number is 400 .

now, check whether our Answer is correct or not .

put the above values of x = 600 and y = 400 in eq. (1) we get --

x - y = 200

600 - 400 = 200

200 = 200

LHS = RHS

hence our Solution is correct.
