The Bond formed by the transfer of electrons between metal and nonmetal are called Ionic bond. Also called electrovalent bond.
Properties of Ionic bond
- Solid and hard , generally brittle.
- High melting and boiling point.
- Generally soluble in water but insoluble in solvents like kerosene , petrol etc.
- Good conductor of electricity.
