Let the number=x

∴(x/2)-(x/1)=5

⇒ x-2x/2= 5

⇒-x= 10

⇒x= -10

To check answer putting value of x = -10

∴(-10/2)-(-10/1)=5

⇒-10+20/2=5

⇒10/2=5

⇒5=5
