Salivary juice is present in the mouth.
Saliva is mainly produced by three pairs of salivary glands, the parorids, the sub - maxillary and the sublinguals.
This glands situation just outside the buccal cavity secrete salivary juice into the buccal cavity.
❖ Parotid glands : lt is the largest glands located inferior and anterior to the ears.
❖ Sub - maxillary : It is found at the angles of the lower jaw.
❖ Sub - lingual : These are smallest glands present beneath the tongue.
Infra orbital salivary glands are absent in humans.
Daily secretion of saliva is 1.5L. pH of salivary juice is 6.8.
Saliva contains 99.5% water and 0.5% solutes, mucus, lysozyme, salivary amylase and few ions like sodium, potassium, chloride, uric acid, etc.,
