In the human digestive system, the food enters the mouth, where it is chewed and broken down by saliva before being squeezed down the oesophagus. It then enters the stomach where it is further broken down by stomach acids. it then travels into the small intestine where most of the nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream. The food then goes into the large intestine where the last nutrients and liquid are taken from the food before it leaves the body.
