Let the number at one's place be y and ten's place be x.

According to the problem,

y = 4x – (1)

10y + x = 10x + y - 54 – (2)

___________________

Putting the value of y in equation (2)

40x + x = 10x + 4x + 54

= 41x = 14x + 54

= 27x = 54

= x = 2

____________________

Putting the value of x in equation (1)

y = 4(2)

= y = 8

The required number is:-

10x + y

= 20 + 8

= 28
