Let the units digit of the two digit number be x.

Therefore, the digit at the tens place of the two digit number is 4x.

Two digit number:

10(4x) + x

40x + x

41x ---> This is the original number.

On reversing the digits:

Tens digit = x

Units digit = 4x

10x + 4x

14x ---> This is the new number.

Sum of the two numbers = 55

41x+14x = 55

55x = 55

x =  \frac{55}{55}

x = 1

Original number:

Ones digit = 1

Tens digit = 4

Number: 41

New number:

Ones digit = 4

Tens digit = 1

Number: 14
